The Brief
We were appointed by Bristol Airport at an early stage to assist with design and value engineer a 500m new access road from Silverzone to the Solar PV farm. The access road was constructed airside, in close proximity to the runway with many constraints including contaminated land, service crossings and working in a live airport environment.
The Solution
We value engineered the road and elevated the finished levels. This mitigated the requirement for disposal of contaminated land and reduced the logistical requirements of working alongside a live runway.
Complex below ground services and trench crossings were carried out in phases after close liaison with the Clients in house emergency services to fully understand their constraints.
Works were carried out in phases to ensure security was maintained in this controlled environment.
Close liaison with the Client and their stakeholders were paramount to construct this new infrastructure with minimum disruption to the daily running of this live Airport.
